MacLC doesn’t watch what you watch. Here is everything the app and this website do with your data.
The app
No telemetry, no tracking, no account. MacLC never reports what you play, how long, or on which Mac. It has no analytics and no crash uploader, and its update feed is switched off, so it never downloads anything by itself.
Your library stays on your Mac. The catalogue of your folders, thumbnails, artwork, play history and resume positions are stored in your user folder and never leave it.
Only what you open goes online. Playing a stream connects to its server. Pasting a web link runs yt-dlp, which contacts that website. Playing a torrent connects to other people sharing it, who can see your IP address, as with any torrent app.
Watch history, favorites and resume stay on your Mac. Your Watch history, favorites, Continue Watching list and resume positions are stored locally in ~/Library/Application Support/org.maclc.MacLC/Watch/library.json. Nothing is sent to Hazen Studio.
YouTube sign-in is optional. Home and search work without signing in. If you choose to sign in, you use Google’s own sign-in page, shown in a web view inside MacLC, or reuse an existing browser session. MacLC keeps only the session cookies yt-dlp needs, in a private local file, and signing out deletes it. Nothing is sent to Hazen Studio.
Imported settings stay local. If VLC is installed, MacLC copies its settings on your Mac on first launch. Nothing is uploaded.
This website
No cookies, no analytics, no trackers. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.
One preference in your browser. The site remembers your light or dark choice under a single localStorage key, hz-theme, shared with the other Hazen Studio pages. It never leaves your browser.
Hosting. The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare handles each request, including your IP address, to deliver and protect the site, under its own privacy policy. We see aggregated traffic numbers only, never individual visits.
Downloads. The app is downloaded from GitHub, which applies its privacy statement.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be here with a new date. As we don’t collect email addresses, this page is the only record.
