MacLC — HDR media player for Apple Silicon · 2026

A macOS-only media player for Apple Silicon, forked from VLC 4.0.0-dev. It keeps libVLC's complete demuxing and decoding engine and rebuilds everything above it: a Metal compute shader that expands SDR highlights into the extra brightness of XDR displays, fixes for six macOS display-pipeline defects, and a native AppKit interface.
